Peckham goes into meltdown as Tyler, the Creator tweets surprise gig
The controversial rapper, banned from entering the UK in 2015 comes to the Bussey Building in Peckham for a surprise gig which later gets cancelled.
Was anyone out in Peckham today and wondering what the F*ck was going on? Well, US rapper Tyler, the Creator announced on Twitter and Instagram earlier today that he would be at the Bussey Building in Peckham at 3pm. And, that was all it took. Things went mad.
The rapper was due to perform a surprise show at our very own Bussey building but to the disappoint of hundreds of fans it got cancelled. It got too rowdy apparently.
Tyler, the Creator who also goes by the social handle @feliciathegoat announced the impromptu South East London gig by posting a picture outside Buckingham Palace - which was quite the statement considering he was banned from the UK in 2015 over the content of his lyrics, allenging by the Home Office that it “encourages violence and intolerance of homosexuality” and “fosters hatred with views that seek to provoke others to terrorist acts”.
Apart from the huge crowds and roads being blocked, peeps on Insta and Twitter say, the atmosphere was fun and exciting, no one was arrested. But the police shut it down anyway. However, the police have since said the gig was not cancelled due to police intervention but the Bussey actually pulled the plug on it.
Anyway, great PR for his new album IGOR which has just been released.
