Peckham conker championships

When we thought Peckham couldn’t get any cooler, it goes and starts a Peckham Conker Club. Yep, it’s a real thing. Since 2017 the Peckham Conker Club has been redefining the game of conkers with a South London twist. Peckham resident Chris Q started this Peckham club, as a throw back to his young Yorkshire days in the 80’s “where ‘stampsies’ ruled and autumnal school playgrounds were virtual conker cemeteries.”

Chris is now bringing his conker-shaped dreams to Peckham by hosting South London’s first Conker Championships, which will be held at Brick Brewery Tap Room.

The Conker Championships are open to anyone, but you have to sign up here to reserve your place. The games are divided into two age groups; under 18’s and over 18’s. They will be playing according to 2 conker rule sets: Orthodox and Battle Royale. Let’s just say, the latter isn’t for the faint hearted - ‘anything goes’ is the ethos.

Oh, and they have even opened up a nifty little shop… where you can buy 1 year aged conkers x 10 for £25.. ahem.
