Looking Glass Collective presents Black Cinema. Screening Half of a Yellow Sun at Peckham Levels. The film is based on Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s 2006 novel of the same name, directed by Biyi Bandele set in Nigeria in the late 1960s about a family’s trials and tribulations during the Nigerian Civil War. Two daughters mirror their country's newly-asserted independence by following their hearts rather than their father's wishes for them. Against a backdrop of national turmoil, neither daughter's path proves smooth.
