Peckham Springs

Peckham Springs, Image:http://peckhamsprings.co.uk/

Ah, Peckham Springs, yep we have had a fair few good nights out in this bar. Peckham Springs tucked underneath Peckham Rye station, is a great place to take pals who are visiting Peckham for the first time, it really sums up the style and vibe of Peckham. It has a great atmosphere, always pumping out good tunes, a large and now extended outside area with street food vendors and another arch which can be booked out for larger parties. The cocktails are seriously yum and relatively cheap (£6) for London (happy hour 6-7pm). The weekends are always filled out with happy peeps usually stopping by for pre-drinks before heading to Bussey. Peckham Springs also has a Gallery space for exhibitions - Sassoon Gallery.

(And yer the name is inspired by Del Boy's infamous back garden water business.)

Opening hours: Thurs 7pm-12am, Fri-Sat 6pm-12am.

NEW: COPELAND SOCIAL

Copeland Social, the new Peckham bar behind the Bussey building

Alas, we had to say goodbye to our beloved The Nines, however, it’s time to say hello to Copeland Social the new Peckham bar that took over the space in April this year. The bar occupies the same outdoor space in Copeland Park, nestled behind the Bussey building, so it’s perfect to enjoy a cocktail in the summer sunshine. As well as a fully stocked bar Copeland Social offers a bar and grill style café which we are yet to try out (hope they have some Vegan plates on the menu- The Nines did a mean vegan burger!).

They seem to be pretty active on Insta and Twitter – if you want to check out what social events they have on.

Unit 9A&B, Copeland Park, 133 Copeland Rd, Peckham SE15 3SN

Batch Bar Peckham

Batch Bar in Peckham started life as a Christmas pop up that has now turned into a permanent bar (which used to be an old off license). The vibe? High-quality cocktails in a friendly and non-pretentious environment. This dim lit and cosy bar is decorated with colourful phoenixes, foxes and foliage in abundance.

As for the drinks menu, they say ‘our cocktails focus on beautiful ingredients and careful balance’ using a selection of small batch and handmade spirts from Maverick Drinks. You can also find cocktails with ingredients sourced locally like the ‘Mizuki-Yuzuki’ cocktail made with sake from local sake brewery Kanpai London

Prince of Peckham

Prince of Peckham

Prince of Peckham is one of Peckham's newest boozers. It launched in May 2017, replacing the Clayton Arms with a fresh new refurb and promise of live music and event nights - which it has since lived up to. The downstairs is a traditional style pub with a kitchen serving up Caribbean-inspired food run by White Men Can't Jerk. On Sundays the Caribbean-inspired chefs lay on a bottomless brunch and on Sundays there is a jerk-inspired roast. The upstairs is used to host regular exhibitions and music events.

And their ethos? 'To create a pub where old Peckham and new Peckham can enjoy' Nice!

It has a 'Tapyard' outside the brewery where you can taste the beers straight from the source. All the furniture is made from recycled material like pallets and beer keg stools. As well as craft beers, you can also munch on a burger from their permanent food resident Slow Richie's run by two Peckham locals serving up BBQ meat, burgers (veggies options available) and hot sauces made from the Brick Brewery Beer. If you get peckish you can choose from an American diner inspired menu (think hotdogs and chips). Frank's Cafe is part of Bold Tendencies Sculpture project, and opened in 2008 by bartender Frank Boxer and chef Michael Davies. Frank's brings in huge crowds who come to drink Campari-based (Campari sponsors the pop-up bar) cocktails and marvel at the panoramic views of London. Each year the bar is known for re-launching with a new look, pairing up with art collective Bold Tendencies to showcase freshly commissioned installations. Canavan's Peckham Pool Club

Canavan's pool bar

Canavan's NOT to be mistaken for 'Caravan's' (we can tell you ain't local if you call it that). Canavan's owned by Ciaran Canavan is a late night pool bar-cum-nightclub that is popular with locals. It offers a more intimate, rough around the edges clubbing experience with great DJ's, cheap booze and a dance floor that leads on to a backroom full of pool tables and ping pong. Many people come here after the bars close at midnight as it is open until 4am it makes for a great nightcap (or several). We love this place because it is unpretentious, low key and full of fun people who just want to have a good night. DJs who have played at the venue in the past year include Clive Henry, Eddie C, Scott Fraser, Chaos in the CBD, Moscoman, Joe Hart and Auntie Flo.
