Ah, the good old British pub quiz, a perfect excuse to get your mates together for a night of competitiveness and 'hilarious' team names (Quizzee Rascals). So, get your pals together, brush up on your general knowledge and shake up your weekday evenings for some tavern-based trivia. Here are 3 of our favourite Nunhead pub quiz nights.

1. The Old Nun's Head
The Old Nun's Head is an old traditional pub sat on Nunhead green. A historic building with a cosy interior filled with working fireplaces, wood panelled walls and stocked with local ales.
This tudor style building dates back to the 30's and supposedly gets its name from a nunnery in the area that was suppressed during the Reformation. The Mother superior received Henry VIII’s expulsion order and put up such resistance that she had her head cut of and stuck on a spike on the Green.
The guys at The Old Nun's head host a popular (and usually sold out) pub quiz every Thursday night with the chance of winning bar vouchers.

2. The Ivy House
The Ivy House in Nunhead was built by Truman's brewery and dates back to the 1930's where it was known as The Newlands Tavern. It became London's first co-operatively owned pub after a group of community volunteers prevented the destruction of the historic pub, managing to raise a million pounds to buy the freehold. It then re-opened as The Ivy House.
As you can imagine being co-operatively owned pub it is a popular hang out with locals!
The Ivy has a large stage area that holds regular live music, theatre and comedy nights. They have a wide range of craft beers and 8 real ales.
The Ivy plays host to a weekly pub quiz every Wednesday at 7pm.

3. The Waverley Arms
The Waverley Arms in Nunhead is a lovely smart Victorian-style Pub that is over 100 years old. It has been recently refurbished so has a lovely traditional interior and a cute little outside area with table and chairs. The Waverley serves gastropub food (plus BBQ food in the Summer) and real ales.
They hold their weekly pub quiz every Sunday - with that chance of winning some great prizes.
Every Sunday 8pm. £2 per person
