Looking for a more creative way to get fit? Pole dancing could be what you’re looking for.

Kelechnekoff Fitness is a studio in Peckham founded by pole dance teacher, personal trainer and self-acclaimed twerk innovative Kelechi Okafor. Kelechi started her own fitness studio to create a space for all types of women and bodies with a focus on inclusivity for Black women and non-binary people.

Pole Dancing is a great way to get fit and fast becoming a popular workout in London. It has multiple benefits as well as combining strength training, endurance and flexibility it’s also a great practice for developing your confidence and seeing what your body is capable of doing.

Kelechnekoff Fitness has lots of different class for all levels of experience. If you’re new to pole dancing the beginner class is for you. This pole dance course teaches you the required pole spins, climbs and tricks required for moving onto the intermediate course. This 90-minute class, although part of a course, is taught on a single class basis which allows you to attend based on your availability. It is reasonably priced at £15 a class (you must book in advance).

If pole dancing isn’t quite your thing then how about trying "Twerk Werkz" - a class that teaches the history of the dance (which descends from Africa) as well as all the fundamentals to being a ‘badass twerker’. This is a fast-paced class which helps tone legs, bum and tums as well as helping you unlock some killer dance moves. Classes - £12.
